The Ase' Xchange INC., is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of residents in Cumberland and surrounding Counties with our wide range of enriching activities and programs. Our programs have been designed to be socially and educationally engaging for community members of all ages.

Ase' in the Yoruba language translates to the divine force, energy or power behind all things in the universe. Ase' is a West African philosophical concept where the Yoruba conceive the power to make things happen and produce a change, existence is dependent upon it.  At the Ase' Xchange, we pour positivity and resources into Cumberland County, aiming to make great things happen and produce a positive and meaningful change.

I am Kiera "Yuri" Frederic-Wade, founder and CEO of The Ase' Xchange INC and Yuri Enterprises LLC . After honorably completing two terms in the U.S. Army, I wanted to see a positive change in how soldiers spent money, utilized credit and maximized benefits. Therefore, I started counseling active soldiers and veterans on finances, entrepreneurship and investments. Since, I've launched organizations that has extended these services to the public, held positions on County level government boards, Family Ambassador for Cumberland County Schools, became a Exceptional Childrens Educator, ABA Therapist, volunteered and have held community outreach events.

Majority of citizens in Cumberland County, North Carolina lack in either financial literacy, social-emotional development, cultural diversity, food security, advocacy, childcare and/or vocational needs. I strive to provide these services & resources with personal clients, public education and events I host.

As a small business mentor, in my experience everyone has skills that can lead them into entrepreneurship and/or advancing in their work field, I zone in, target those skills, and help build business plans with my clients.

As a veteran and a mother, I understand the need of community resources to balance family life and being in the workforce, whether it may be civilian or military.

I believe in maintaining a positive mindset, creating partnerships with a purpose, and always striving for significant outcomes. When you work with me, you should expect a collaboration with transparency and consistency.

Ta'Nay Barrett

Executive Administrator

Hello, my name is Destiny Gilliard, and I am a junior at Fayetteville State University, majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Pre-Law and Paralegal Studies. My ultimate goal is to obtain a master’s degree in social work and attend law school to specialize in family law.

My passion for advocacy and justice drives everything I do. I am deeply committed to being a voice for individuals—especially children—who have experienced abuse, as I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact it has on families. Through my academic journey, I have developed a strong understanding of the legal system and the unique challenges faced by vulnerable communities.

In addition to my studies, I am actively involved in community service and civic engagement. I have volunteered with organizations such as Democracy NC, the Salvation Army, Cape Fear Botanical Garden, and the Boys and Girls Club, working on projects that uplift and empower individuals. These experiences have strengthened my leadership skills and reinforced my commitment to making a tangible difference.

Currently, I am serving as an Interning Case Worker at The Ase Exchange, where I apply my knowledge and skills to support those in need.

I firmly believe in the power of change, and I am devoted to creating a future where survivors of abuse receive the support, protection, and justice they rightfully deserve. Every step I take, whether through education, advocacy, or service, is a step toward achieving that mission.
